US producer prices are expected to rise by 0.2% month-over-month in April 2025, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in March which was the first drop in PPI since October 2023 with investors watching for any early signs of inflationary pressures linked to tariffs.
The core PPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, is projected to increase by 0.3% in April, following a 0.1% decline in the previous month.
On an annual basis, headline producer inflation is forecast to ease to 2.5% in April, the lowest in seven months, and down from 2.7% in March.
Similarly, core producer inflation is expected to slow to 3.1%, the lowest level since August 2024, from 3.3% previously.
