US Mortgage Rates Fall from 4-Month Highs: MBA

The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances ($806,500 or less) in the US fell by 6bps to move back to 6.92% in the week ended May 30th, 2025, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.
Mortgage rates topped a four-month high of 6.98% in the week before, when mounting fiscal concerns pushed long-term Treasury yields sharply higher.
A year earlier, rates were higher at 7.07%.
Meanwhile, the average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with jumbo loan balances (greater than $806,500) decreased to 6.92% from 6.93%.
The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages backed by the FHA increased to 6.68% from 6.66%.
