The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage edged higher to 6.22% as of December 11th, 2025, from the lowest in a month of 6.19% in the previous week, according to a survey of lenders by mortgage giant Freddie Mac.
“The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is well below the year-to-date average of 6.62%, providing some sense of balance to the housing market,” said Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist.
