Poland Unemployment Rate Edges Up in November

Polish jobless rate increased to 11.4 percent in November of 2014 from 11.3 percent in October. It was the first rise in ten months as less jobs were created.

The number of registered unemployment persons rose by 0.08 percent to 1799.5 thousand in November from 1784.8 in the previous month. The highest increase was among people with 24 years and less (+0.9 percent).  Yet, newly registered unemployment decreased 8.2 percent.

In November of 2014, employment in the enterprise sector was flat on the month at 5794 thousand persons. Retail sales sector registered the highest growth (0.8 percent) and construction the lowest (-0.6 percent).

Compared to year earlier, the unemployment rate fell 15 percent from 13.2 percent. Year-on-year, employment in the enterprise sector rose 1.3 percent, with information and communication sector (+4 percent) posting the highest job gains, followed by the retail sector (3.3 percent) administrative and support services (+2.8 percent) and real state (2.3 percent)
