Polish Unemployment Rate at 7-Month High

Polish jobless rate increased for the third straight month to 12 percent in January of 2015 from 11.5 percent in the previous period, due to a rise in the number of unemployed. A year earlier, unemployment was recorded at 13.9 percent.

The number of jobless increased to 1.918 million in January from 1.8225 million in the previous month. A year ago, the figure was 2.26 million.

Employment in the enterprise sector increased slightly by 0.5 percent to 5805 thousand in January. A year earlier, there were 5721 thousand people employed in the corporate sector.
