Portugal Inflation Rate Steady at 0.8% in April


Consumer prices in Portugal are expected to increase 0.8 percent year-on-year in April of 2019, the same pace as in March, as cost of both unprocessed food and energy should soften, preliminary estimates showed.

Prices of energy (1.0 percent vs 1.3 percent in March) and unprocessed food (0.2 percent vs 2.0 percent) are expected to slow down. 

Annual core inflation rate, which excludes prices of energy and unprocessed food products is expected to rise slightly to 0.8 percent from 0.7 percent in March.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are set to went up 0.6 percent, following a 1.8 percent increase in the preceding month.

Harmonized consumer prices likely increased 0.9 percent year-on-year, above 0.8 percent in March and are seen rising 1.0 percent month-over-month after a 2.1 percent gain in March.
