Russia Unemployment Rate up to 5.3% in October


Russia's unemployment rate increased slightly in October from a record-low of 5.2 percent recorded in September of 2012.

In October of 2012, 4 million people were classified as unemployed (according to the methodology of the International Labour Organisation). One million people were registered as unemployed and 0.8 million people received unemployment benefits according to public employment services. Of the 1.6 million unemployed rural residents, 33.3 percent were in a situation of long-term unemployed. Of the 2.5 million unemployed urban residents, 26.4 percent were looking for work for more than 12 months.
