Exports contracted for the second consecutive month by 13.4 percent year-on-year to USD 38.78 billion in September of 2014. Sales to countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropepd 11.1 percent while shipments to the CIS countries shrank for the third month in a row by 26.3 percent.
Imports fell 10 percent year-on-year to USD 22.7 billion in September, following an 11.5 percent drop in August. Purchases from the CIS countries contracted 22.2 percent while those from other countries fell 8.1 percent.
