Pakistan Trade Deficit Shrinks in May


Pakistan trade gap edged down to PKR 153.6 billion in May of 2014 compared with PKR 209.8 billion in the previous month, as exports increased and imports declined.

In May of 2014, exports amounted to PKR 208.7 billion, an 11.79 percent increase from the previous month, while imports recorded PKR 362.4 billion, decreasing 8.60 percent from April of 2014.

Compared with May of 2013, the trade deficit decreased 28.1 percent, as exports dropped at a slower pace than imports (-2.4 percent and -15.2 percent, respectively).
