US Building Permits Revised Higher

Building permits in the United States decreased by 2.2% to a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 1.362 million in June 2025, revised up from a preliminary estimate of 1.354 million.
Despite the revision, this remains the lowest level since June 2020.
Permits for buildings with five or more units dropped by 9.4% to an annualized rate of 432 thousand, while single-family permits increased by 1% to 875 thousand.
Regionally, permits declined in the South (-4.3% to 742 thousand) and the West (-7.7% to 274 thousand), but increased in the Northeast (21.4% to 125 thousand), and in the Midwest (1.4% to 221 thousand).
