Pakistan Inflation Rate Down to 7.4% in February


In Pakistan, the general CPI index increased by 7.4 percent on a year over year basis in February of 2013 as compared to 8.1 percent in the previous month and 11 percent in February of 2012.

The categories which recorded the highest price increases were: Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (18.5 percent); Recreation and Culture (17 percent); Clothing and Footwear (15.7 percent); Health Care (13.2 percent); Restaurants and Hotels (9.8 percent) and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (8.6 percent).

On month over month basis, the CPI decreased by 0.3 percent in February of 2013 as compared to an increase of 1.7 percent in the previous month and 0.3 percent in February of 2012.
