Year-on-year, cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased 8 percent. Highest food price increases were registered in: Tomatoes (125.1 percent), Onions (87.82 percent), Fresh Vegetables (29.28 percent), wheat Flour (19.99 percent), Wheat (18.58 percent), Tea (16.92 percent), Wheat Products (16.17 percent) and Chicken (15.59 percent). In contrast, prices of pulse gram declined 21.40 percent, spices (-18.28 percent), gram whole (-15.61 percent), besan (-13.93 percent) and fresh fruits (-11.26 percent).
The highest non-food products price increases were registered in: woolen readymade garments (18.47 percent), dopatta (16.60 percent), cotton cloth (14.91 percent), cleaning and laundary (14.55 percent), Newspaper (13.68 percent), Woolen Cloth (13.41 percent), Tailoring (13.06 percent) and Text Books (12.95%). Cost of Gas and Motor Fuel declined 45.61 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively.
On a month-over-month basis, the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 1.05 percent in June, boosted by higher prices of Tomatoes (23.19 percent), Chicken (23.16 percent) and Potatoes (19.16 percent).
Year-on-year core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI increased by 7.8 percent in June, compared to 8.1 percent in May.
