The FTSE 100 Index Opens 0.10% Higher

The FTSE 100 Index is gaining 11 points or 0.10 percent on Wednesday. Leading the gains are Antofagasta (2.52%), Barratt Redrow (2.14%) and Vistry Group (1.54%). Top losers are Burberry (-3.19%), Imperial Brands (-2.35%) and Airtel Africa (-1.50%).

The FTSE 100 traded slightly higher at a 6-week high on Wednesday as the broader outlook in the Middle East remained largely unchanged, with the US and Iran working toward a second round of peace talks, while corporate updates helped support sentiment. Antofagasta rose more than 2.5% after maintaining its full-year production guidance and highlighting strong medium-term fundamentals for copper. Barratt Redrow also gained around 2.5%, saying the immediate impact from the conflict is expected to be limited, though it warned of increased uncertainty beyond the current financial year, including potential pressure from higher interest rates and rising energy-driven costs. The company noted stable demand and a solid forward sales position supporting its outlook. On the downside, Burberry fell more than 3% following disappointing results from luxury peers Hermes and LVMH.

The FTSE 100 Index went up by 18 points or 0.17 percent on Tuesday to close at 10601 points. The rise was led by Intertek (12.96%), Easyjet Plc (4.83%) and Fresnillo (3.82%). On the downside, the weakerst performers were Imperial Brands (-5.29%), Shell (-2.95%) and British American Tobacco (-2.91%).
