FTSE 100 Moves Slightly Down

The FTSE 100 traded flat to slightly lower on Monday as investors monitored rising Middle East tensions and speculation that Andy Burnham could enter the race to challenge Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The UK index still outperformed peers thanks to gains in BP, up 1.1%, Shell, up 0.9%, and BAT, up 1.8%, as oil prices climbed amid ongoing US and Iran tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
Anglo American fell more than 2%, Glencore lost around 1%, and AstraZeneca slipped over 0.5%.
Glencore said a Chilean court ruling on a desalination project would not immediately affect production at Collahuasi, while AstraZeneca secured US approval for a new hypertension drug targeting more than $5 billion in annual sales.
Anglo American agreed to sell its steelmaking coal unit to Dhilmar for up to $3.875 billion.
IAG fell 1.1% as rising maintenance, wage and fuel costs weighed on airline sentiment despite strong Ryanair earnings.
