FTSE 100 Hits Fresh Record

The FTSE 100 jumped more than 1% on Tuesday to a fresh record high of 10,123, supported by broad-based gains across miners, defence and healthcare stocks.
Retailer Next was among the standout performers, surging 4.5% after upgrading its profit outlook.
The company now expects after-tax earnings of 738.8 pence per share, beating market forecasts, after reporting a more than 10% rise in December sales.
Healthcare stocks also rallied strongly, with AstraZeneca climbing 5%, GSK gaining 4.1% and Hikma Pharmaceuticals up 3.4%.
GSK was boosted by news that its Exdensur drug received approval in Japan for treating severe asthma and rhinosinusitis.
Commodity-related stocks added further momentum as copper hit a record high and gold and silver extended gains.
Defence shares advanced as well, with Babcock International rising 3.6%, Rolls-Royce up 1.2% and BAE Systems gaining 1%.
