The FTSE 100 rose over 0.5% on Friday, lifted by pharma and energy stocks despite fresh US tariff announcements.
President Trump unveiled a 100% duty on branded and patented drugs from October 1, unless firms are building plants in the US.
Other tariffs included 25% on heavy trucks, 50% on kitchen cabinets and vanities, and 30% on upholstered furniture.
Still, AstraZeneca gained 0.4% and GSK 1.3%, as both already have significant US manufacturing capacity, limiting tariff risks.
AstraZeneca also pledged $50 billion in US investment by 2030, further mitigating exposure.
Energy majors Shell and BP climbed more than 1% as oil extended its weekly gains.
Overall, the FTSE 100 advanced around 0.7% for the week.
