UK Construction Output Growth at 4-Month Low

UK construction output rose by 1.2% year-on-year in May 2025, slowing from a 3.6% growth in the previous month and marking the slowest pace since January.

New work eased (3.6% vs 4.8% in April) while repair and maintenance fell for the first time in four months (-1.7% vs 2.2%).

On a monthly basis, output dropped by 0.6%, reversing three consecutive periods of growth, including an increase of 0.8% in April.

Sector-wise, five out of nine sectors contracted, with the biggest drags coming from non-housing repair and maintenance (-2.4%) and private housing repair and maintenance (-1.8%).
