UK construction output rose by 3.3% year-on-year in April 2025, accelerating from 1.4% in the previous two months and marking the fastest pace since June 2023.
It was the third straight month of growth, driven by a sharp rise in new work (5.8% vs 2.4% in March), while repair and maintenance held steady (at 0.2%).
On a monthly basis, output increased by 0.9%, up from 0.5% in March, marking the third consecutive monthly gain and the strongest since May 2024.
Sector-wise, six out of nine sectors expanded, with infrastructure new work (2.0%) and private housing repair and maintenance (1.5%) making the biggest contributions.
Despite April’s momentum, construction activity was flat in Q1 of 2025.
