The number of employed persons in Canada increased by 0.2 percent or 35000 to 18.489 Million. Employment gains were driven by full-time work (+89,000), while fewer people worked part time (-53,000). Employment rose in several industries, led by "other services;" construction; information, culture and recreation; and agriculture while it declined in retail. Employed Persons in Canada averaged 14086.90 Thousand from 1976 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 18489.40 Thousand in October of 2017 and a record low of 9636.70 Thousand in January of 1976.
