Oil prices hovered near four-month highs, while benchmark yields in the US and Japan climbed to multi-year highs. Investors also braced for key central bank policy decisions this week, with both the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan expected to raise interest rates. Meanwhile, technology stocks delivered mixed performances amid growing concerns over a slower pace of AI development. Notable declines came from Advantest (-3%), Fujikura (-1.9%) and Furukawa Electric (-3.3%). In corporate developments, Kioxia Holdings gained 2.3% following reports that the Japanese memory chipmaker is considering raising at least $10 billion through a listing of American depositary receipts.

The Nikkei 225 Index gained 130 points or 0.20 percent on Tuesday to close at 63623 points. Gains were led by Softbank (7.95%), Taiyo Yuden (4.82%) and Lasertec Corp (4.29%). Biggest losers were Furukawa Electric (-3.49%), Resona Holdings (-3.10%) and Nitori Holdings (-3.01%).
