The DAX 40 edged 0.2% lower to below 26,300 on Tuesday morning, retreating slightly from a record high as caution prevailed amid persistent uncertainty over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump on Monday responded to Iran’s conditions for a peace deal with demands that Tehran compensate for people killed in wars, attacks and protests, adding to tensions and complicating diplomatic efforts to reopen the crucial waterway.
Losses were led by Siemens (-0.5%), Allianz (-0.5%), Airbus (-1.4%), Daimler Truck Holding (-1.4%) and Qiagen (-0.8%).
The declines were partly offset by gains in Deutsche Telekom (+0.8%), Siemens Energy (+0.8%), Infineon (+0.5%) and RWE (+0.9%).
