The DAX Index Opens 0.05% Higher

The DAX 40 edged 0.2% lower to below 26,300 on Tuesday morning, retreating slightly from a record high as caution prevailed amid persistent uncertainty over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump on Monday responded to Iran’s conditions for a peace deal with demands that Tehran compensate for people killed in wars, attacks and protests, adding to tensions and complicating diplomatic efforts to reopen the crucial waterway. Losses were led by Siemens (-0.5%), Allianz (-0.5%), Airbus (-1.4%), Daimler Truck Holding (-1.4%) and Qiagen (-0.8%). The declines were partly offset by gains in Deutsche Telekom (+0.8%), Siemens Energy (+0.8%), Infineon (+0.5%) and RWE (+0.9%).

The DAX Index is picking up 13 points or 0.05 percent on Tuesday. Gains are led by Deutsche Telekom (1.07%), Siemens Energy (0.75%) and Rheinmetall (0.72%). Biggest losers are Airbus (-1.23%), Daimler Truck Holding AG (-1.23%) and Qiagen NV (-0.86%).

The DAX 40 closed broadly flat at 26,320 on Monday, remaining at record levels, as gains in financial and selected industrial stocks offset losses in telecommunications and consumer shares. QIAGEN jumped 5.1% after Deutsche Bank reiterated its “Buy” recommendation, while Infineon gained 2.3% after launching a limited-term share buyback programme. Siemens Energy advanced 1.5%, tracking US power generators with high exposure to power-hungry AI infrastructure. Financials mostly outperformed, with Allianz rising 1.1% after announcing plans to reduce supplier coverage by up to 70% for Vistry. On the downside, Deutsche Telekom led the declines, falling 3.2% after reports that its US affiliate, T-Mobile US, had cut more than 4,500 jobs in the first half of the year. Beiersdorf and Brenntag each lost 2.2%, while Bayer fell 1.3% and Hannover Re slipped 0.3%.
