China Stocks Track Asian Peers Lower
The Shanghai Composite fell 0.43% to close at 3,934.4 on Thursday, while the Shenzhen Component dropped 0.77% to 13,617.7, tracking losses across Asian markets as surging oil prices fueled inflation concerns. Crude oil prices remained elevated after Iran signaled readiness for a more intense conflict, while US President Donald Trump ruled out a quick end to the war, saying it was unlikely to conclude before the November midterm elections. The pickup in inflation reflected renewed concerns over potential supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran. Among the biggest decliners, Foxconn Industrial Internet fell 2.04%, Ping An Insurance lost 1.32%, Zhongji Innolight dropped 2.07%, and BYD slid 2.75%.
