The Shangai Composite Index went up by 23 points or 0.60 percent on Wednesday to close at 3913 points.

The rise was led by China Molybdenum (5.92%), China Merchants Securities (5.21%) and Poly Real Estate (3.72%).

On the downside, the weakerst performers were China Coal (-3.25%), Petrochina (-1.52%) and Sanan Optoelectron (-1.36%).

The Shangai Composite Index gained 45 points or 1.16 percent on Thursday to close at 3958 points. Gains were led by Hengli Petrochemical (3.34%), Shaanxi Coal (2.62%) and China Coal (2.47%).

China Stocks Gain Over 1% at Finish
The Shanghai Composite climbed 1.13% to close at 3,956.6 on Thursday, while the Shenzhen Component added 1.50% to 14,048.9, as expectations for fresh policy support strengthened following the latest industrial profits data. China's industrial profits increased 17.6% year-on-year to CNY 4.58 trillion in the first seven months of 2026, easing from an 18.7% rise in the January–June period. With recent readings on fixed-asset investment, industrial output, and retail sales all missing the forecasts, all eyes are now on the conclusion of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee meeting on August 28 for potential policy signals aimed at bolstering growth. Technology and semiconductor stocks also provided significant muscle to both benchmarks, following stellar Q2 results and strong revenue guidance from US chip giant NVIDIA. Top sector performers included Hygon Information Technology (6.50%), Victory Giant Technology (5.46%), Cambricon Technologies (2.75%) and SMIC (1.76%).
