Japan’s machine tool orders fell by 0.5% year-on-year to JPY 133,150 in June 2025, slipping from a 3.4% increase in the previous month.
This marked the first month of contraction in machine tool orders since September last year, mainly due to a decline of 3.3% from a year earlier in domestic demand to JPY 39,869.
Meanwhile, foreign orders rose marginally by 0.3% to JPY 93,281.
On a monthly basis, orders advanced by 3.4% in June, rebounding from a 1.2% decrease in the preceding period.
