Japan Foreign Reserves Hits Near 4-Year High

Japan’s foreign reserves increased by $10.42 billion to $1.37 trillion in December 2025, marking the highest level since February 2022.
The holdings included $1.16 trillion in foreign currency assets, $11.26 billion in IMF reserve position, $60.84 billion in SDRs, $117.17 billion in gold, and $16.3 billion in other reserve assets.
Meanwhile, the finance ministry previously stated that no foreign exchange interventions took place between July and September 2025.
