Frankfurt’s DAX 40 gained ground to close around 0.6% higher at 25,983 on Monday, nearing recent two-month highs and tracking gains across other European markets.

Investor sentiment was supported by a sharp decline in oil prices amid hopes of a potential peace agreement in the Middle East, offseting concerns over European instability and the upcoming US midterms.

Sector-wise, travel and leisure stocks, tech, banks, industrials and autos were among the top performers, while telecom and utilities dragged.

Tourism operator TUI and Deutsche Lufthansa climbed 5.5% and 3.8%, respectively.

MTU Aero Engines, Heidelberg Materials, Infineon Technologies, Siemens Energy, Adidas and BMW also advanced firmly, with gains ranging between 1.8%-4.8%.

Deutsche Bank rose 1.8%.

Fresenius SE & Co added 1.6% after announcing a partnership with WuXi Biologics to broaden its generic drug portfolio.

On the flip side, Rheinmetall (-3.3%) and Deutsche Borse (-2.2%) emerged as the worst performers.
