DAX Trims Losses
Frankfurt's DAX 40 pared early losses to close about 0.5% down at 25,900 on Tuesday, taking confort from the pullback in oil prices ahead of US midterm elections. Oil turned negative after US President Trump stated that Washington plans to halt its annual $4 billion military aid to Israel by the end of the year, at the initiative of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Meanwhile, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said overnight strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island had not disrupted regional oil supplies. Zalando dropped over 6% to the bottom, as disappointing profitability overshadowed sales that came in slightly above expectations. Fresenius Medical Care slipped 3.6%, as the dialysis provider reported Q3 results that exceeded analysts' expectations but lowered its outlook for the full year, citing regulatory and inflationary pressures. On the upside, Bayer gained around 3% after the company raised its 2026 profit outlook. Chipmaker Infineon Technologies and AI-related Hochtief also advanced.

DAX Down on Tuesday
Frankfurt's DAX 40 fell over 1% to below 24,700 on Tuesday, as optimism at the start of the week gave way to renewed caution. Investors grappled with mounting concerns over AI, mixed corporate earnings and the looming US midterm elections. Geopolitical tensions added another layer of pressure, with reports of a US strike on Iran's Qeshm Island driving oil prices higher and reinforcing fears of further escalation. Most sectors traded lower, led by tech, software, retailers and industrials. Zalando led losses among individual stocks, slipping over 5%, as weaker gross margin and net loss overshadowed slightly better-than-expected sales. SAP, Infineon Technologies and Siemens Energy fell around 3% each, mirroring global sector weakness. Adidas dropped 2% after UBS cut its rating to "sell" from "neutral". Meanwhile, Bayer shares stood out, surging 6% after the company raised its 2026 profit outlook. Deutsche Lufthansa gained 2.5% after reporting Q3 profit slightly ahead of expectations.
