DAX Closes Slightly Higher
Frankfurt’s DAX 40 closed 0.3% higher at 25,368 on Thursday, recovering from earlier losses in a choppy trading session. Gains in software, retail and telecom stocks offset declines in technology, banking and industrials. Meanwhile, investors monitored geopolitical developments and the ongoing earnings season ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech on Friday. Recent upside surprises in US inflation have reinforced expectations of a prolonged period of elevated interest rates. Scout24 led gains among stocks, rising more than 7%, followed by Rheinmetall (4.4%), Zalando (3.8%), Fresenius Medical Care (3%), SAP (2.2%), Adidas (2.1%) and Airbus (2.1%). On the downside, Infineon Technologies dropped over 5% to the bottom of the index, reflecting the general weakness in the tech sector. Shares of energy technology company Siemens Energy declined by 2.1%. RWE, Deutsche Bank, Siemens and Bayer also posted losses up to 1.8%.
