European Stocks Cautious

European stocks traded cautiously on Wednesday, with the STOXX 50 fluctuating around the flatline and the STOXX 600 edging 0.1% higher, as investors continued to assess a fresh batch of corporate earnings while as ?a rout in chip stocks deepened and oil prices increased, following another setback in the Middle East.

LVMH extended Tuesday's gains, rising 3.2% after reporting broadly in-line sales growth.

Eni surged nearly 4% after raising its 2026 production forecast.

Deutsche Bank advanced 4.3% after posting a 10% increase in profit, defying expectations for a decline, while Porsche gained 1.2% after reporting a 34% rise in first-half operating profit.

On the downside, ASML Holding fell 2.5%, Hermes was down 2.8% as its results failed to impress investors.

Danone lost 3% after second-quarter sales growth was driven by higher prices rather than stronger volumes.

Investors also awaited earnings from L'Oréal (-0.9%), Airbus (-0.6%), and Intesa Sanpaolo (+0.6%) later in the day.

Markets will also monitor earnings reports from L’Oreal, Hermes, Airbus, AON, and Deutsche Bank, among others. In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 futures slipped 0.2%, while Stoxx 600 futures edged down 0.1%.

European Stocks Gain for 3rd Session
European stocks inched higher on Tuesday with support from corporate earnings and another pullback in energy prices. The Euro STOXX 50 added 0.2% to 6,294 and the STOXX Europe 600 gained 0.4% to 647. LVMH gained 1% reporting broadly in-line sales growth. Unilever surged 8.5% after raising its full-year sales guidance, while Mercedes-Benz climbed 2.9% after posting a profit beat despite a sharp drop in deliveries in China. Also, Safran rebounded from early losses and advanced 3% after results. Orange also gained 3.1% after upgrading its annual profit outlook. On the downside, Barclays fell 5.6% after posting its balance sheet. Meanwhile, the technology sector remained under pressure globally, with renewed concerns over AI-related spending weighing particularly on semiconductor stocks. ASML extended its recent losses, falling 3%, after reports that a Chinese state-backed company has started mass-producing certain chipmaking equipment.
