The Shanghai Composite rose 1.08% to close at 3,638 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component climbed 1.63% to 11,010.7, rebounding from a more than one-year low in the previous session as reports of renewed regulatory efforts to stabilize the stock market lifted sentiment.
Reports suggest that the three major regulators are set to meet with major banks to explore expanding lending support for stock buybacks, while a major state-owned bank also plans to extend up to 200 billion yuan ($30 billion) in additional loans to two state asset management firms, both part of the so-called “National Team.” Meanwhile, the manufacturing PMI fell to a three-month low of 49.3 in October 2026 from 50.1 in September, as domestic demand weakened after the Golden Week boost.
The non-manufacturing PMI slipped to 49.7 from 50.2, signaling a contraction in the sector for the sixth time this year.
PetroChina (1.30%), Kweichow Moutai (3.38%), CATL (3.12%), and BYD (3.06%) were among the strongest gainers.
