The Shangai Composite Index Closes 0.12% Higher

The Shangai Composite Index rose 5 points or 0.12 percent on Tuesday to close at 3955 points. Leading the gains are Yonyou Soft (3.45%), BAIC BluePark (2.80%) and Shanghai Electric (2.76%). Top losers were Greenland Holdings (-4.38%), Avic Aviation Engine (-2.27%) and Jiangsu Lianyungang (-2.21%).

The Shanghai Composite closed little changed at around 3,952.1 on Tuesday, while the Shenzhen Component edged down to around 13,723.7, as investors assessed high-level US-China talks. Chinese and US officials concluded a second day of talks covering AI, investment, and trade issues ahead of the Trump-Xi summit in the US. The closely watched meeting, scheduled for September 23–25, is expected to focus on AI, the Iran conflict, export controls, and rare-earth supplies. Investors are also monitoring whether Beijing and Washington can extend their trade truce before it expires in November. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the two sides have yet to agree on the terms of an extension, while suggesting Washington could support a three- to six-month rollover. Among notable gainers were PetroChina (1.12%), China Shenhua Energy (1.52%), and Hygon Information Technology (3.88%). In contrast, laggards included Zhongji Innolight (-1.41%) and Suzhou TFC Optical Communication (-1.22%).

The Shangai Composite Index gained 39 points or 0.99 percent on Monday to close at 3951 points. Gains were led by Greenland Holdings (10.34%), Poly Real Estate (6.95%) and Jiangsu Hengrui (4.78%). Biggest losers were Haier Smart Home (-3.92%), Aluminum Corporation of China (-1.71%) and Zhejiang Zheneng (-1.18%).
