The Shanghai Composite fell 0.4% to 3,872 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component dropped 0.8% to 13,370, dragged lower by AI-related stocks.

Sentiment toward the sector deteriorated after several major AI firms called for a slowdown in the technology's development, casting doubt on one of the main drivers of this year's market rally.

Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed establishing a BRICS open-source AI community to deepen cooperation in developing and deploying large language models, highlighting Beijing's push to expand its influence as global competition over AI governance intensifies.

Among the biggest decliners were Cambricon Technologies (-2.7%), SMIC (-1.4%), Zhongji Innolight (-3.9%), and Victory Giant Technology (-2.6%).

On the economic front, investors are looking ahead to a slate of key economic data this week, including house prices, fixed-asset investment, industrial output, retail sales, unemployment, and FDI figures.

China Stocks End Over 1% Lower
The Shanghai Composite slipped 1.18% to close at a two-week low of 3,888.1 on Friday, while the Shenzhen Component fell 1.08% to an over one-month low of 13,471.3, as rising oil prices and higher US Treasury yields weighed on risk appetite across Asian markets. Crude oil remained elevated after Trump said he did not expect the Iran war to end before the November midterm elections and that oil prices were unlikely to decline until then. Meanwhile, a surge in Treasury yields boosted the dollar after the US Treasury Department's first expanded buyback operation attracted weaker-than-expected demand. Meanwhile, attention now turns to key economic data next week, including house prices, fixed-asset investment, industrial output, retail sales, and the unemployment rate. Among the biggest laggards were Zijin Mining Group (-5.42%), CMOC Group (-4.52%), CATL (-2.23%), and East Money Information (-3.48%). Over the week, the Shanghai Composite lost 1.07%, while the Shenzhen Component fell 0.34%.
