The Shanghai Composite fell 0.50% to close at 3,927 on Thursday, while the Shenzhen Component dropped 0.87% to 14,289.4, with both erasing gains from the earlier session as investors were left underwhelmed by China's latest policy-support signals.
The People's Bank of China pledged to roll out additional measures in a timely manner, fully utilize existing policy tools, introduce "practical and effective" measures when necessary, and strengthen countercyclical adjustments.
The central bank also vowed to provide greater support for domestic demand, technological innovation, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
However, the lack of concrete details on significant easing measures reinforced expectations that broad-based monetary stimulus is unlikely in the near term.
Among notable decliners, Zijin Mining dropped 4.08%, NAURA Technology lost 2.82%, Luxshare Precision slipped 2.25%, and Sinopec fell 1.19%.
