Gold production in South Africa fell 1.2% year-on-year in October 2025, reversing a 5.9% surge in September.

The decline shaved 0.1 percentage point off overall year-on-year growth in total mining output.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, gold production declined 3.7% in October, following a 6.6% gain the previous month.

Gold production in South Africa jumped 5.9% year-on-year in September 2025, the strongest annual gain since July 2023, following a 3.6% decline in August. It added 0.6 percentage point to the overall year-on-year growth in total mining output. On a seasonally adjusted basis, gold production increased 6.6% in September, rebounding from a 3.6% drop in August.

Gold production in South Africa fell 3.6% year-on-year in August 2025, marking the second consecutive monthly decline and accelerating from a 0.4% drop in the previous month. The contraction shaved 0.4 percentage point off overall year-on-year growth in total mining output. On a seasonally adjusted basis, gold production also declined 3.6% in August, following a 0.9% fall in July.
