Frankfurt's DAX 40 reversed early losses to close about 0.4% up at 25,697 on Wednesday, buoyed by gains in banks, tech and utilities.

Market participants remained focused on corporate earnings ahead of the Fed's policy outcome later in the day and the ECB meeting tomorrow.

Meanwhile, oil prices climbed again amid heightened Middle East hostilities and fears of potential escalation.

Deutsche Bank led individual stock gains, rising nearly 4% after reporting record third-quarter profits that exceeded market expectations.

BASF shares rose more than 1%, as it raised its earnings forecast for 2026 after reporting performance above expectations, despite weakness in its agriculture division.

On the losing side, Symrise plunged 10%, as it flagged slower year-end organic growth and margin pressure, despite recording stronger sales volumes and a modest quarterly growth beat.
