The DAX Index Opens 0.58% Higher

Frankfurt's DAX 40 rose 0.6% to surpass 25,500 on Wednesday, the second session of gains, as lower oil prices and stabilizing bond yields supported sentiment. Improved energy flows from the Middle East and another significant release of US emergency reserves eased supply fears despite stalled US-Iran negotiations. Meanwhile, attention turns to fresh inflation figures for Europe, particularly Germany, and the US. Most sectors traded higher, led by tech stocks after Trump rejected new federal AI regulations following talks with industry leaders at the White House. Industrials, pharma & healthcare and utilities also performed strongly. Among stocks, Heidelberg Materials and MTU Aero Engines advanced the most, rising 1.7% and 1.6%, respectively. The index was on track for a 2.7% monthly decline but a 2.2% quarterly gain.

The DAX Index is gaining 148 points or 0.58 percent on Wednesday. Leading the gains are Zalando (1.74%), HeidelbergCement (1.63%) and Merck (1.46%). Top losers are Commerzbank (-0.98%), SAP (-0.45%) and Deutsche Telekom (-0.17%).

Frankfurt's DAX 40 gave back much of its advance to close marginally up at 25,375 on Tuesday, while its European peers were mixed. Investors remained cautious amid lingering uncertainty over the Middle East, despite lower oil prices and renewed strength in technology stocks. They also braced for a deluge of economic data due tomorrow, including German inflation figures that could influence the ECB's next moves. The tech sector outperformed amid expectations that continued heavy AI investment will support long-term chip demand, while enthusiasm also grew ahead of the upcoming White House AI summit. Chipmaker Infineon Technologies and AI-related Siemens Energy climbed 4.6% and 3.7%, respectively, Industrials also gained, benefiting from lower oil prices. On the other hand, pharma & healthcare, telecom, utilities, autos and chemical companies were the most pressured. Fresenius SE & Co (-4.9%), Bayer (-3.7%) and Fresenius Medical Care (-3.2%) posted the biggest losses.
