Frankfurt's DAX 40 edged up 0.4% to around 25,460 on Friday, after two consecutive sessions of losses, despite ongoing concerns over inflation, the prospect of further rate hikes and geopolitical tensions.
A modest decline in oil prices provided some relief for energy-intensive industrials, despite prices remaining elevated.
Aerospace & defense stocks, insurers, and tech stocks also advanced solidly, offsetting weakness in software, autos, and chemicals.
Siemens Energy led gains among stocks, rising 1.8%, followed by GEA Group, Airbus, Siemens, Munchener Ruck and MTU Aero Engines, each adding over 1%.
On the flip side, BASF (-2.2%), SAP (-1.8%) and Brenntag (-1.5%) posted the biggest losses.
For the week, however, the index was on track to fall more than 2%, marking its steepest weekly decline since April.
