The DAX Index Closes 0.61% Higher

The DAX 40 closed about 0.6% firmer at 26,266 on Tuesday, the highest in over a week, amid easing Middle East concerns and as technology stocks recovered ahead of the highly anticipated Nvidia earnings report. Positive domestic GDP and business confidence data also boosted sentiment. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent provided few details on potential measures to increase pressure on Iran, while speculation over a possible return of US officials to negotiations raised hopes for renewed diplomatic engagement. Industrials, tech and utilities led sectoral gains. Among individual stocks, Scout24 led the way, climbing 4.5%, followed by Siemens Energy (3.2%). The German energy technology company gained following reports that it is working with Goldman Sachs ahead of potential offers for a majority stake in its steam turbine business. Other top performers included Zalando, Infineon Technologies, Siemens, Bayer, RWE and Heidelberg Materials, rising between 1.6% and 2.1%.

The DAX Index went up by 160 points or 0.61 percent on Tuesday to close at 26266 points. The rise was led by Scout24 (4.58%), Siemens Energy (2.70%) and Zalando (2.61%). On the downside, the weakerst performers were Adidas (-1.71%), Siemens Healthineers (-1.61%) and BASF (-1.43%).

The DAX 40 extended initial gains, rising 0.8% to cross 26,300 on Tuesday, following a downbeat session in the prior day, amid some relief from the latest US sanctions on Iran. Positive domestic GDP and business confidence data also boosted sentiment. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Monday a global sanctions program targeting countries that maintain economic and trade ties with Iran, although the measures were seen as too vague. In the meantime, chip stocks attempted to stabilize following a weak performance on Monday, with investors positioning ahead of Nvidia’s earnings report. Infineon Technologies led gains, rising more than 2%, along with AI-related stocks. Siemens Energy advanced 1.4%, also buoyed by reports that the company had commissioned Goldman Sachs to prepare for a potential sale of its majority stake in its steam turbine business. Among top losers were Siemens Healthineers (-1.1%), SAP (-01.1%) and Volkswagen (-0.7%).
