The DAX Index Opens 0.03% Higher

Frankfurt's DAX 40 rose 0.5% to around 25,300 on Monday, trying to recover ground after last week's weakness, amid relief from lower oil prices and some easing pressure on bond yields. Meanwhile, investors braced for a busy week of key economic and policy announcements, as well as a fresh batch of corporate earnings. Sector-wise, industrials, banks and pharma & healthcare were the standout performers. Bayer climbed as much as 3%, leading the benchmark’s gainers, after its prostate cancer drug Nubeqa demonstrated a 58% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death in high-risk patients. Other top performers included Siemens Energy (2.2%), Hochtief (1.9%), Airbus (1.6%) and MTU Aero Engines (1.4%). Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank also advanced firmly, rising 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively.

The DAX Index is picking up 144 points or 0.57 percent on Monday. Gains are led by Bayer (2.55%), Siemens Energy (2.04%) and RWE (1.55%). Biggest losers are BASF (-1.83%), Brenntag (-0.59%) and Deutsche Telekom (-0.51%).

The DAX Index dropped 190 points or 0.75 percent on Friday to close at 25182 points. Losses were led by MTU Aero Engines AG (-4.84%), Deutsche Telekom (-3.17%) and Siemens Energy (-2.88%). Offsetting the fall, top gainers were Fresenius Medical Care (3.27%), Beiersdorf (2.41%) and Fresenius (1.75%).
