The DAX 40 closed about 0.3% down at 24,915.5 on Thursday, extending losses from the prior day, as traders parsed the latest batch of earnings reports and corporate updates, against the backdrop of persistent Middle East tensions.

Rumors that US President Donald Trump is considering expanding military operations against Iran after a series of briefings with his closest aides are causing concern.

Meanwhile, technology shares continued to struggle, with chipmaker Infineon Technologies (-4.2%) and AI infrastructure-linked Siemens Energy (-2.3%) among the biggest decliners.

On the flip side, Symrise, GEA Group, Beiersdorf and Henkel posted the biggest gains, ranging between 1.5% and 1.9%.

In corporate news, Delivery Hero confirmed a merger agreement with Uber Technologies, which is offering €41.50 per share and valuing the company at nearly €13 billion.
