The Shanghai Composite fell 1.33% to 3,648.3 on Tuesday, while the Shenzhen Component lost 2.50% to 11,245.7, as heavy losses in technology stocks overshadowed stronger industrial profit growth.
Cambricon Technologies (-5.68%), SMIC (-2.70%), Hygon Information Technology (-5.54%), Zhongji Innolight (-2.94%), NAURA Technology (-5.51%) and Eoptolink Technology (-5.60%) were among the biggest laggards, despite AI firm Anthropic’s eagerly anticipated IPO filing boosting risk appetite.
On the economic front, China’s industrial profits rose 15.5% year-on-year to CNY 6.03 trillion in the first nine months of 2026, easing slightly from 15.7% growth in the January-August period.
Meanwhile, the People’s Bank of China said it would establish a swap facility to provide emergency liquidity to non-bank financial institutions facing large-scale redemptions.
Investors are also watching the Communist Party’s Fifth Plenum for policy signals and further clarity on China’s economic priorities.
