The Shanghai Composite was little changed around 3,903 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component fell 1.2% to 13,923, as investors turned cautious ahead of a busy week of earnings from several market heavyweights.

Traders awaited results from EV giant BYD, energy majors PetroChina and CNOOC, as well as retail-favorite stocks such as Laopu Gold and Eoptolink Technology.

Zijin Mining gained 1.4% after reporting strong first-half earnings, supported by solid operational performance and revenue growth.

On the downside, BYD slipped 0.5%, Midea lost 0.2%, and Suzhou TFC Optical Communication fell 1.5%.

Investors also looked ahead to the National People's Congress Standing Committee meeting on August 25–28, hoping for fresh policy signals following a string of weaker-than-expected economic data and recent pledges by policymakers to support growth.
