China Q4 Industrial Capacity Utilization Rate Highest in 2 Years

The industrial capacity utilization rate in China increased to 75.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023 from 75.7 percent in the same period a year earlier.

It was the highest industrial capacity utilization rate since the fourth quarter of 2021, as increases were seen in all sectors: electricity, heat, gas, and water (74.4 percent from 74.0 percent in Q4 of 2022), mining (77.1 percent vs 76.5 percent), and manufacturing (76.0 percent vs 75.8 percent).

In the September quarter, the industrial capacity utilization rate was at 75.6 percent.

For the 2023 full year, the industrial capacity utilization rate eased to 75.1% from 75.6% in 2022.
