Brazil Retail Sales Rise in June

Brazil's retail sales increased 0.5% month-on-month in June 2026, following a 0.3% rise in May and beating forecasts for a 0.3% gain.
Four sectors posted growth, led by other personal and household goods (2.4%), hypermarkets and supermarkets (1.1%), furniture and household appliances (0.4%), and pharmaceutical and perfumery products (0.2%).
Four sectors declined, led by books, newspapers and stationery (-9.9%), textiles, clothing and footwear (-2.6%), fuels and lubricants (-1.7%), and office, IT and communication equipment (-1.3%).
Sales increased in 19 of Brazil's 27 states, led by Amazonas (3.0%), Espírito Santo (2.6%) and Roraima (2.5%).
In contrast, expanded retail sales fell 1.0% month-on-month after declining 0.3% in May.
