Import prices in New Zealand fell 1.7 percent on quarter in the three months to December of 2020, after a 3.7 percent decline in the previous period and compared to market expectations of a 1.0 percent drop. The decrease was mainly explained by a fall in petroleum prices, down 5.8 percent after a 0.4 percent increase in the previous three-month period. In contrast, import prices of food & beverages edged up 0.2 percent after declining 4.6 percent.
