DAX at Near 2-Week Low

The DAX 40 was down for a second session on Tuesday, falling about 0.4% to near 26,200, a level not seen since August 6.

Rising oil prices and higher bond yields, driven by escalating tensions between the US and Iran, weighed on the market, alongside fresh jitters on AI spending.

The expiry of the 60-day US-Iran interim agreement on Monday without a breakthrough added to geopolitical uncertainty.

Washington has rejected an extension, while Iran warned of a tougher response if progress is not made in the coming weeks, raising concerns over further disruption in the Strait of Hormuz and global energy supplies.

Technology and industrial stocks were among the hardest hit, with Infineon Technologies (-2.5%), Siemens Energy (-2.2%), Siemens (-0.9%) and Hochtief (-0.6%) ranking among the worst performers.

On the flip side, BASF (-0.9%), Deutsche Post (0.9%) and Deutsche Telekom (0.8%) posted the biggest gains.

The DAX Index Opens 0.35% Lower
The DAX Index is losing 91 points. Losses were led by Infineon (-2.54%), Siemens Energy (-2.51%) and Siemens (-1.13%). Offsetting the fall, top gainers were Deutsche Post (1.14%), BASF (1.01%) and Deutsche Telekom (0.99%).

DAX Finishes on Negative Note
The DAX 40 closed about 0.4% down at 26,339 on Monday, reversing gains from the prior session, despite remaining close to record highs. Heightened Middle East tensions offset growing investor optimism over artificial intelligence.The 60-day Washington-Tehran truce expires today, with the standoff over Hormuz continuing and threats from both sides escalating. Meanwhile, investors continued to adjust their expectations for US interest rates following a series of weaker-than-expected economic data. Several sectors faced selling pressure, particularly retailers and autos, while tech and financials provided support. Among single stocks, Zalando, Adidas, Scout24, Beiersdorf, Henkel and Symrise posted the largest declines, ranging between 1.9%-3.4%. On the upside, top gainers included Deutsche Borse (1.8%), Rheinmetall (1.3%), Siemens Energy (1.1%) and Infineon Technologies (0.9%).
