2026-07-29 10:05 By Joana Ferreira 1 min. read

Frankfurt's DAX 40 erased early gains to trade 0.3% lower at around 25,380 on Wednesday, as technology stocks weakened and escalating Middle East tensions kept investors cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve's policy decision later in the day.

Semiconductor shares remained under pressure, with Infineon slipping 0.3% after Tuesday's 6% plunge.

Sentiment was dented by disappointing market reaction to SK Hynix's results, raising fresh concerns over AI-related spending, while investors also awaited earnings from major US tech companies after the market close.

Meanwhile, oil prices jumped more than 3% following renewed military strikes involving the US, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, fueling concerns over inflation.

Among corporate movers, Deutsche Bank surged 4% after stronger-than-expected second-quarter earnings, RWE gained over 2% on upbeat first-half results, and BASF rose 2.9% after announcing a new share buyback program.
