The DAX Index Closes 0.29% Lower

The DAX Index decreased -72 points or 0.29 percent on Wednesday to close at 24823 points.

The decline was led by Fresenius (-3.71%), Bayer (-3.04%) and MTU Aero Engines AG (-2.58%).

On the upside, the strongest performers were Daimler Truck Holding AG (3.52%), Infineon (2.84%) and Brenntag (2.11%).

DAX Finishes on Cautious Note
Frankfurt's DAX 40 pared gains to close virtually unchanged at 25,178 on Wednesday, amid cautious optimism about a US-Iran potential deal, amid conflicting signals from both sides. Iranian state media reported details of an unofficial draft peace framework with the US, outlining an end to the US naval blockade and Iran’s commitment to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days. Energy prices fell even though Washington denied the information. Consumer discretionary stocks were the standout performers. Adidas led gains among stocks, surging 5.3%. Airline Lufthansa advanced 3.3%. Carmakers also advanced strongly, with Mercedes-Benz Group, BMW and Volkswagen adding more than 2% each, buoyed by positive EU monthly car sales data. Top losers included Siemens Energy (-3.9%), RWE (-3.4%) and Fresenius SE & Co (-2.1%).

The DAX Index fell 7 points or 0.03 percent on Wednesday to close at 25178 points. Leading the losses are Siemens Energy (-3.83%), RWE (-2.95%) and Fresenius (-2.28%). Top gainers were Adidas (5.38%), Continental (4.00%) and HeidelbergCement (3.81%).

DAX Gains on US-Iran Deal Optimism
Frankfurt's DAX 40 extended early gains on Wednesday afternoon. trading around 25,350, in line with other European peers. Market sentiment got a boost after Iran’s state TV said that it had access to a draft of the initial unofficial framework for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States. The document reportedly outlines military de-escalation in the region and a potential lifting of the maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz within a month. Consumer stocks and automakers provided the main support. Among individual stocks, Adidas led the way, surging over 7%, along with Puma. Continental (5.4%), Daimler Truck (4%), Mercedes-Benz Group (3.8%), Volkswagen (3%) and BMW (2.9%) also advanced firmly, buoyed by Volvo's strong performance and positive EU monthly car sales data.
