Frankfurt’s DAX 40 extended its recent rally on Wednesday, rising 0.4% to an all-time high of 25,510 points, boosted by strong performances from Bayer and RWE and positive market reaction to surprisingly robust Chinese trade data.

Bayer shares surged 3.3% after the company outlined plans to return its pharmaceuticals business to mid-single-digit percentage growth by 2027 and target an operating margin of around 30% by 2030.

RWE gained 3.2% after being named among the developers awarded guaranteed electricity price contracts in the UK’s latest offshore wind auction, which secured a record level of capacity, the government said.

Elsewhere, DHL Group slipped 0.7% following Goldman Sachs’ withdrawal of its buy recommendation, while Lufthansa shares fell more than 2% after Barclays analyst Andrew Lobbenberg downgraded the stock to “Underweight.”

DAX on Cautious Note
Frankfurt's DAX 40 swung between losses and gains on Tuesday, reflecting a cautious sentiment ahead of the expiration of President Trump's ultimatum to Iran. Investors continued to weigh mixed signals from President Donald Trump on the ongoing Iran conflict, balancing hopes of a potential ceasefire with continued geopolitical risks. While he warned of severe consequences if Iran failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, he also described Iran as an “active, willing participant” in negotiations. Lingering uncertainties and energy supply disruptions continue to support oil prices. In equities, Heidelberg Materials, Qiagen NV and Symrise posted the biggest declines, falling 1.8%, 1.1% and 1%, respectively. Energy-sensitive Siemens Energy (-0.8%), Siemens (-0.5%) and SAP (-0.7%) were also down. On the upside, BASF, Fresenius Medical Care and Brenntag advanced the most, rising between 1.5% and 1.8%.

DAX Finishes Lower
Frankfurt's DAX 40 pared early losses to close about 0.6% down at 23,168 on Thursday, following reports that Iran and Oman were working on a memorandum of understanding concerning safe maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, President Trump’s address drove oil prices higher, as he promised a swift end to the Middle East conflict but warned Iran of further attacks on its power plants if no deal is reached. The deadline for action to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, extended by Trump, expires on April 6. Most sectors posted losses, with technology, financials, and industrials among the hardest hit. In equities, Deutsche Telekom slipped 3.3% as it traded ex-dividend, reflecting a €1.00 payout per share. Infineon (-3.2%), Heidelberg Materials (-2.7%), Siemens (-2.6%), Deutsche Bank (-2.6%) and Commerzbank (-2.6%) also saw steep losses. For the week, the index gained about 3.9%. The DAX will be closed Friday and Monday for the Easter holiday.
